Trick or treating on Gloucester’s Main Street will not happen this year.
Jennifer Haggerty, director of the Gloucester Main Street Association, said the annual event had to be canceled “due to the current situation of COVID-19 in regard to requirements of social distancing and public gatherings not allowed in excess of 250 people.”
She said the decision was made after discussions with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, and “was not made lightly, and we realize this outcome may disappoint people of all ages.”
Haggerty said the safety of residents, visitors and volunteers must come first.
She added, “We hope everyone stays safe and well. We do look forward to the return of this beloved event in 2021.”
