Machicomoco State Park in Hayes will host Smoke and S’mores on Saturday, April 29 in the park’s Outdoor Classroom.

Park guests can enjoy tasty treats while learning how indigenous peoples used fire to fell trees and build canoes. Guests will learn how to make fire using a bow drill and flint and steel.

All supplies are provided but pre-registration is recommended to ensure enough supplies will be available for all guests. Call 804-642-2419 to pre-register.

The park offers regular programming opportunities over the weekends lasting through November. New this season are special adult programs and kayak tours which will begin in June. For monthly program schedules go to dcr.virginia.gov/state-park/machicomoco.
