Machicomoco has busy schedule of events

Machicomoco State Park in Hayes will hold a number of programs throughout July.

There will be several hands-on Tsenacomacoh Tools & Tech events (“Smokes and Smores” on July 1 at 8 p.m.; “Buried Bones Hooks” on July 16 at 4 p.m.; “Cordage and Fishnets” on July 29 at 6 p.m.). They will be held in the Outdoor Classroom. Pre-registration is required along with a $5 fee.Design at Dawn art programs will be held at 10 a.m. on July 3 and 10 a.m. on July 24 (“Jewelry of the Powhatans”), 10 a.m. on July 10 (“Paint the Park”), 9 a.m. on July 16 (“Blooms of Clay”), 9 a.m. on July 23 (“Wildlife Wired”) and 10 a.m. on July 24 (“Jewelry of the Powhatans”). Pre-registration is required along with a $10 fee.

There will be two Pollinator Investigator programs at 10 a.m. on July 2 and July 17 where park goers can discover the pollinators of the park.

Tales with Tails will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 at the Trailhead parking lot, where guests can enjoy face-painting, costume piece,...
