Machicomoco State Park, Hayes, has plenty of events planned for May. Catch your first fish at one of the saltwater fishing programs or bring the kids to Discovery Digs for National Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 17.
Children can earn a junior ranger patch that day by helping the Fairfield Foundation with a real archaeological dig. Stick around until 8:30 p.m. to gaze at stars with the NASA Skywatchers during the Friends of Machicomoco’s Astronomy in the Park event.
