Lyman Joseph (Joe) Hayes of Gloucester, born Sept. 5, 1946, died Oct. 20, 2017.

Born in Texas, Joe was a Vietnam veteran, an avid fisherman, an auto and marine mechanic, worked at Jordan’s Marina, and drove trucks for Shackleford Seafood.

He had resided in Gloucester County since 1989. Joe told many stories and most were true. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorie R. Hayes.

He is survived by his son, Travis M. Hayes of Hayes; grandchildren, Carter M. Hayes and Lyman T. Hayes of Mathews.

To honor his wishes, he was cremated and the service was private.
