LVHS lecture focuses on immigration history

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society’s Genealogy Research Topics, Tools, and Tips Lecture Series continues next Thursday, Oct. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m., with in-person and Zoom attendance options. Professional genealogist Sharon Hodges will present, “Coming to America: Ship Passenger Lists and Immigration Records.”

The lecture will feature information on researching immigrants to America in the 17th through 20th centuries, including using ship manifests that can show passenger names, the port of embarkation, date of arrival, and other valuable information.

Registration for the live lecture or Zoom is required by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, online at LancasterVaHistory.org or by calling 804-462-7280. The fee is $20 for LVHS members; $25 for others and includes supplemental handouts and access to a recording of the program. Videos and handouts from past lectures can also be ordered for a separate fee.
