Isabelle Behnam, owner of Lulu Birds Kitchen at 6553 Main Street in Gloucester, has been in business at the location since 2014, offering full-service fine dining and a bar.

Opening a restaurant in a small town as a transplant from New York has been challenging, said Behnam, requiring hard work to connect and create a loyal customer base while still “putting out an amazing product and enticing new customers each week.”

Behnam is a longtime retail and restaurant manager. Her husband, Keyvan, is a chef and partner in her business. They have two children, Kai and Layla.
