Lucy Jane King Williams, 71, of Hayes, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at VCU Medical Center, Richmond.

Lucy was born August 13, 1945, and was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church, Achilles, where she taught the Cornerstone Sunday School class for 39 years. She retired from Gloucester County Public Schools as an elementary school secretary.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward King and her mother, Grace Shackelford King.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Hamilton; daughter, Amy Boykin and husband Mark; daughter, Sarah Haywood and husband Doug; and grandson, Wesley Haywood.

A celebration of Lucy’s life conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry and the Rev. Richard Whiteheart was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Union Baptist Church. Interment followed in Gloucester Point Cemetery. The family received friends from 2-3 prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Following the committal a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
