Lucy D. Hogge, 93, of Gloucester Point, entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018.

She was a native of Gloucester, and a longtime member of Union Baptist Church. Lucy was a true servant of God, faithfully serving her family and being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. 

She cooked for over 40 years at local restaurants. She was known for her singing ministry with her guitar. She has finished her course. She has left a legacy of how to live by her words and actions. Her works will follow in ways that cannot be overlooked; her presence was an inspiration and her memory will remain in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Andrew J. Hogge Sr.; parents, Luther W. and Beulah J. Deal; five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Della H. Grinnell and husband Reggie; son, Andrew J. Hogge Jr. and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Steve, Rick, Jonathan, Angela and Christel; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.

A funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart and her grandson, the Rev. Steve Hogge, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Union Baptist Church, Achilles. Interment followed in Gloucester Point Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
