A funeral for Lucille Elizabeth Thornton of Gloucester, was held on Saturday in St. Paul Baptist Church, Gloucester. She died Monday, April 16, 2012.

She was a native of Gloucester County, and the salutatorian of the 1946 graduating class of Gloucester Training School. She was a retiree of the Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown.

Survivors include her children, Arthur L. Thornton, Louise T. Corbin-Reed and Edward J. Thornton; brother, Joseph Gross; sister, Barbara Bruno; seven grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the First United Baptist Church Cemetery, Gloucester.

Howard Funeral Home, Ark, was in charge.
