Louis August Seitz Jr., 98, of Gloucester, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at his home.

He was the son of the late Louis A. and Rose Nebel Seitz, and was the widower of Leah Gercken Seitz.

He was retired from the New York Life Insurance Co. as an engineer. He was a member of Bellamy United Methodist Church, and was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 632. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander and commanded the same tank as the Army crossed Europe. He served with the Fourth Armored Division of General Patton’s 3rd Army.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Joyner and her husband Randy; grandchildren, Matthew Joyner and his wife Katherine and Abbey Joyner, and great-grandson, Trevor.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 23, 2017, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester. Burial will be at Culpeper National Cemetery.
