LOTTIE HUTTER KEMP

Lottie Hutter Kemp of Gloucester/Charlottesville, died on April 18, 2016 at Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was 86.

Mrs. Kemp was born on November 2, 1929, to Ferdinand Lee and Janie Cunningham Hutter of “Sandusky” in Lynchburg, Virginia. After graduating from Randolph-Macon Women’s College, she moved to Hampton and worked at NACA, later NASA, for several years.  

Through the years, she was active in the chancel guild of Ware Episcopal Church in Gloucester, Virginia, the Garden Club of Virginia, the Riverside Walter Reed Hospital Auxiliary, philanthropic educational organizations, and social groups.

She is survived by her brother, George Christian Hutter of Richmond, Virginia; her son, David Preston Kemp and his wife Lori of Maryland; her daughter, Katherine Kemp Cucco and her husband Richard of Florida, and her daughter, Tyler Charlotte Kemp-Benedict and her husband Eric of Massachusetts, and by grandchildren, Christian Todd Kemp and Erin Elizabeth Kemp of Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Beck Kemp Jr.; her brother, James Risque Hutter, and her sister, Janie Preston Walton, both of Lynchburg, Virginia.

A memorial service conducted by the Rev. T. Grant Ambrose will be held at 11 a.m. on July 30, 2016, at Ware Episcopal Church, Gloucester, Virginia. Inurnment will be private.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to a favorite charity.
