Lorraine was born in Gloucester County and graduated from Gloucester High School in 1956. She went on to further her education at Chowan College and Longwood College for undergraduate studies. She was a retired social worker who began her career at the Gloucester County Department of Social Services before attending Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned a master’s degree in social work. After receiving her master’s degree, she continued her career with the Newport News Department of Social Services. Following her passion for helping people, Lorraine loved cooking, baking, shopping, and long conversations with her close family and friends as well as travelling with her beloved husband.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Eugene Brown, and her parents, Percy and Elva Belvin Robins. She is survived by her sister, Bettie Sue Varner (Jerry); brother, Bernard Robins (Debbie); several nieces and nephews; many cousins and too many friends to count. Her memory will remain with us forever. The family greatly appreciates the excellent care provided with kindness and love by the staff at Gloucester House and the Riverside Walter Reed Hospice team.
