Local voters get chance to see candidates at upcoming forums

The Middle Peninsula League of Voters (MidPenVOTE) has scheduled several voter forums leading up to the Nov. 5 general election, in which there are a number of contested local races.

The Gloucester candidate forum will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, in the community room of the Gloucester Library, Main Street Center. Candidates for the Gloucester County School Board will begin the program at 2; candidates for the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will discuss their platforms beginning at 3.

The next forum will give candidates for the 98th District Virginia House of Delegates seat—incumbent Republican Del. Keith Hodges and independent challenger Neena Putt—a chance to face off. This one is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, in Gloucester’s colonial courthouse.

In Mathews, the combined candidate forum, in cooperation with the Mathews Woman’s Club is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Mathews Memorial Library.
