Local residents among Virginia State Trooper grads

Eighty new Virginia State Troopers graduated from the State Police Training Academy on Friday and four are assigned to Gloucester and Mathews. Another graduate from Gloucester was assigned to the Peninsula.

Brothers Daniel S. Street, 24, of Yorktown and Stephen A. Street, 28, of Gloucester, graduated together Friday, with VSP Sgt. Jeff Singleton, Stephen’s father-in-law, presenting both with their diplomas. The brothers return home to Gloucester for their first patrol assignments. 

 Trooper Kody Z. Childress, 23, of Newport News interned with the state police prior to entering the VSP Academy. He holds a bachelor of science degree in sociology from Christopher Newport University and is assigned to Gloucester. 

Trooper Thomas Clayton Malone III is from Berkeley Springs in West Virginia and is assigned to Mathews.
