Local RCC students inducted into Phi Theta Kappa

Rappahannock Community College students Tyler Brown, Grayse Garrett, Caela Gilsinan, Tanner Laroque, Kim Lawrence, Susan Pinder, Olivia Pohorence, Nicole Pope, Samantha Prince, Elizabeth Roberts, Merrigrace Sabo, Abigale Waclo, Ian Walker and Micah Woodley of Gloucester and Sarah Camacho, Melinda Edwards, Mackenzie Hilton, Jewel Mitchell, Rosalina Volo and John Wilhelm of Mathews were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society in an April 20 ceremony held at Essex High School.

To become a part of the organization, students must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework that may be applied to an associate’s degree; have a grade point average of 3.5 and must adhere to the moral standards of the society.

The guest speaker for the induction was Hayes resident Dr. Gloria Savage, who served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for years in higher education, both at RCC and Old Dominion University in Norfolk. ...
