The Amazing Raise, an annual 36-hour online giving event which ended last Thursday evening, brought in $1,741,377 through 20,421 individual gifts from donors throughout Richmond, Central Virginia, the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. Roughly $60,000 of that amount was raised for various nonprofits in Gloucester and Mathews.

The Amazing Raise, sponsored by The Community Foundation (TCF) serving Richmond and Central Virginia, celebrates and elevates local nonprofits at the start of the giving season, according to TCF regional grants management associate Leslie Franklin. “Mathews Community Foundation (MCF) and Gloucester Community Foundation (GCF), affiliates of TCF, saw nonprofits and the community rally together during the event,” she said.

In Gloucester and Mathews, 35 nonprofits received 1,000 gifts during the 36-hour event.
