The Virginia Commission for the Arts has announced the award of nearly 400 grants for fiscal year 2026, supporting artists, arts organizations, programs, and creative initiatives in communities across Virginia. Seven of the grants were awarded locally.
General Operating Support grants went to Arts on Main in Gloucester in the amount of $10,026 and to the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews in the amount of $15,423.
Concerts by the Bay received two grants—$2,500 for Operating Support for Small Organizations and $1,400 in a Virginia Touring Grant.
Mathews Memorial Library received a Virginia Touring Grant in the amount of $1,000, and the counties of Gloucester and Mathews each received a $4,500 Creative Communities Partnership Grant.
