Local fiber artist to take part in two national shows

Northern Neck fiber artist Barbara Brecher, owner of I Felt Fine Design, has been invited to participate in two national wearable art shows this month.

For a second year in a row, Brecher has been invited to participate in the annual Uncommon Threads Runway Show at the Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois. The 36th Annual Uncommon Threads, which takes place on Oct. 16, is a celebration of wearable art that highlights fiber artists from across the country. Brecher is one of 21 artists who were juried into the runway show after answering a national call for entries.

From there, she will show and sell her work at the Smithsonian Women’s Committee for the 2022 Craft2Wear Show, which is considered one of the finest wearable art shows in the country. More than 70 artists from around the country will showcase their work. Attendees will find one-of-a-kind American contemporary wearable art including jewelry, leather, and clothing.
