Local E-ZPass office closes; services available at Hayes DMV office

The E-ZPass office at Gloucester Point Shopping Center closed on Nov. 30 but, effective the next day, full customer service for E-ZPass transponder toll facility accounts were available at two other offices in the area, including one at Hayes.

The aim of the moves was to improve customer service, said Brandy Brubaker, a spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. Instead of maintaining the Gloucester Point E-ZPass office, Brubaker said, the commissioners of DMV and the Virginia Department of Transportation talked about how it would be more convenient if commuter account transactions could be handled on both sides of the York River in existing DMV offices that already offered birth, marriage license and other records besides automotive licensing transactions.

Now, E-ZPass customers can go to the Hayes or Patrick Henry Drive in Newport News DMV offices to receive all E-ZPass services. These are the first two DMV offices which offer the full range of services, Brubaker s...
