Local businesses make Best of Virginia list

Virginia Living magazine hit the newsstands on May 16 with its 12th annual Best of Virginia issue. And a number of Gloucester and Mathews locations made this year’s list.

The 176-page statewide guide lists the more than 1,500 winners from the magazine’s January readers’ survey. Nearly half a million votes were cast in 104 categories, covering the best in Food and Drink, Living and Recreation, Services, and Shopping across the commonwealth’s five regions.

“Best of Virginia is all about championing the small businesses, the local haunts, and the mom-and-pop shops,” said Vayda Tarleton, associate editor, special projects. “Without our reader and voters, this special issue wouldn’t be the go-to reference that it is today.”

Gloucester-based businesses making the list included:
