Local broadband plan wins state board approval

PamunkeyNet, a business entity of the Pamunkey Indian Tribe, has received approval from the GO Virginia State Board for the development of a plan for broadband in Region 6, which includes Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex, and other localities of the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.

The PamunkeyNet broadband project has been in the works for the past year. According to a press release from the Middle Peninsula Alliance, the plan seeks to design and implement a sustainable business model for high-speed broadband delivery to underserved localities in and around the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.

GO Virginia is the state board tasked with creating more high-paying jobs across Virginia by fostering collaboration between businesses, education and government.
