Local anglers qualify for citation catches

The Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament issued its first weekly report of 2026 last Wednesday, April 1.

A number of residents have qualified for citations since Jan. 1, as follows:

William Schramm of Gloucester, release citation for speckled trout measuring 26 inches on Feb. 22 in Chesapeake Bay, and striped bass measuring 45 inches on Feb. 23 in Chesapeake Bay;

Andrew Schramm of Gloucester, 49-inch striped bass caught Jan. 10 in Gloucester;

Chris William of Hudgins, 5-pound, 9-ounce speckled trout caught Jan. 11 in Rappahannock River;

Brett Richardson of Hayes, 25.5-inch speckled trout caught Jan. 9 in the Rappahannock River;

Rodger L. Willett of Gloucester, 26.5-inch speckled trout caught Jan. 7 in the Piankatank River;

Jay Brown of Hayes, 7-pound, 4-ounce speckled trout caught Jan. 6 in the James River;

William Flippin Jr of Bena, 6-pound, 6-ounce speckled trout caught Jan. 3 in the Rappahannock River; and,

Jeffrey B. Hunter of Hayes, 5-pound, 10-ounce speckled trout caught Jan. 2 in the Rappahannock.
