Lizzie Wood, 112, of Fishersville, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017, in Fishersville.

Born Feb. 20, 1905 in Elkton, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Wyant and Cornelia (James) Wyant.

On Nov. 29, 1923 in Moormans River, she married Rubin L. Wood. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of the Brethren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mabel Sales Wyant; daughter, Lottie W. Yowell; sisters, Nettie McAllister, Lottie Bennett, Ollie McAllister, Mertie Wyant, Edna Talbert and Hattie Thompson; half-sisters, Arletta Glass and Glenna Irvan; brothers, Ellis, Emory and Lemuel Wyant; grandson, Dereck Losh; daughters-in-law, Rhonda Airey Wood, Nancy R. Wood and Anna Wade Wood; sons-in-law, Edwin Yowell, Mason Bryant and Marvin Tomlin.

Survivors include her children, Wallace Wood (Lee) of Baltimore, Maryland, Thelma Bryant of Waynesboro, Gracie Truslow (Martin Buddy) of Waynesboro, Hiram Wood (Nancy) of Hudgins, Curtis Wood of Spanaway, Washington, Betty Tomlin of Monroe, Boyd Wood (Jane Law) of Middlebrook, and Maynard Wood (Terry Carpenter) of Fishersville; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 37 great- great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street, with the Rev. Dwight Roetto officiating. Burial followed at Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers were Stanley Bryant, Steve Bryant, Woody Yowell, Jeff Tomlin, Greg Tomlin and Rufus Thompson Jr.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the funeral home.
