The Mathews Lions Club donated $100 to each of this year’s Mathews County Public Schools Teachers of the Year. In photo below at right, Lion Marie Walls (center) presents the check to Ashley McBurney, at left, and Jenny Ewell. Ewell is the librarian at Thomas Hunter Middle School; McBurney is a teacher at Mathews Elementary School. Below at left, Lion Conrad Bareford presented the check to Cynthia Hayes at Mathews High School. Hayes was named that school’s Teacher of the Year, as well as Teacher of the Year for the entire division.
