Linwood Earl Harris Sr., 81, of Gloucester, passed away July 31, 2013 with his family and friends by his side at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
He attended Achilles Friends Church for 15 years. Linwood served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, and he retired from Newport News Shipyard.
Linwood is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Ruth Harris; three children, Deborah Foster, Becky Wilson and Linwood Harris Jr.; sister, Agnes Manos; brother, Clifton Scott Harris Jr.; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service conducted by the Rev. John Downs was held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. Family and friends assembled at the cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, from 4-5:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
