LINDA ROBERTSON

Linda Robertson, 71, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 18, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Jeanette Walker.

Linda retired from the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown after 27 years. She then worked several years at the Williamsburg ABC Store, where she truly loved her co-workers. She was a member of Yorktown Baptist Church, and had attended Grace Baptist Church in Williamsburg for many years. Although she was known for her great cooking skills, Linda also loved fishing, listening to music, and all her pets throughout the years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Hank Robertson; her sons, Walter “Sammy” Haskell IV, Henry “Bubba” Robertson III (Naomi); daughters, Linda “Jeanette” Bishop (Jason) and Dana Robertson; grandchildren, Jesse Harmon, Josie Bishop, Henry Robertson IV, and Daniel Robertson; brother, Cleveland “Elbert” Walker of Ware Neck, Va.; great-aunt, Elizabeth Fred of Knoxville, Tenn.; and dear friends, Virginia Palmer and Ann Sulik. She will also be missed by many others, as she always welcomed everyone into her home.

Despite the poor prognosis that a few doctors wanted to give, Linda’s love of life and faithful spirit refused to accept this without a fight. Fortunately, Linda had Dr. Ionescu and Dr. Chaudhary on her team. Together, they embraced Linda’s determination and treated her with kindness and compassion while giving her the support she needed for as long as she was willing to fight. We will be forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses and therapists for everything they did for our “Mamaly.”

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg, where services took place on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Williamsburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Humane Society, 430 Waller Mill Rd., Williamsburg, Va. 23185 or Bruton Fire Station #3, 114 Hubbard Lane, Williamsburg, Va. 23185. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.nelsencares.com.
