LINDA M. JABS

Linda M. Jabs, 62, of Gloucester, died Aug. 26, 2013 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.

She was born Jan. 27, 1951 in South Dakota, attending elementary school in Ahoskie, N.C., and graduating from Cross Keys High School in Atlanta, Ga.

Linda was a Master Gardener and took great pride in her garden at her home on the York River. She was also a volunteer with the Red Cross and will be sadly missed by her many friends and acquaintances in Gloucester County. She was an effervescent, fun-loving woman who enjoyed traveling with her family and soaking up the sun. Linda took great pride in helping all in need. Every second of her life was filled with an abundance of love and joy which will carry on.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, William and Mildred Mitchell, and Alfred and Sylvia Hoppes.

She is survived by her husband, Armin Jabs whom she married in 1981, and her daughter Mitchell Jabs, a student at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. Also by her parents, Jack and Lee Mitchell of Conway, S.C.; three sisters, Nancy Mathews (James) of Conway, S.C., Kaija Emmons (Mike) of Sugarland, Texas, and Jackie Luppino (Frank) of Medina, Ohio, and six nieces and nephews.

A memorial service conducted by the Rev. Sven vanBaars will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Abingdon Episcopal Church.

Contributions may be made in Linda’s memory to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, 601 Children’s Way, Norfolk, Va. 23507, because of her love of children.
