LINDA LEE MABRY

Linda Lee Mabry, 81, a cherished resident of Gloucester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024. Born and raised in Gloucester, Linda epitomized warmth, kindness, and a genuine love for life that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Linda’s talents were as great as her heart. Crochet was not just a hobby for Linda; it was a passion that accompanied her wherever she went, with her trusty bag of yarn always close by, ready to create something beautiful for someone in her life. She also poured her creativity into sewing, making countless clothes and costumes for her two granddaughters, who held a special place in her heart.

Some of Linda’s greatest joys were going out on leisurely drives, “roaming the roads.” Sometimes those roads led her to the beaches of the Outer Banks, her favorite place to relax, listen to Elvis, and enjoy the company of her family. Back home, she found joy in tending her many flowerbeds, caring for her cats, shopping, cooking for her family and watching her many bird feeders. Above all, Linda’s life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to the love and care of her two granddaughters and her son.

She is survived by her son, Rusty Mabry and his wife Tammy Mabry; her granddaughters, Laura Nicole Mabry Sawyer (Stephen) and Hollee Ann Mabry (Chris); her great-grandson, Lincoln Mabry Sawyer, and her two sisters, Hellen Smith and Ethel Brown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Elizabeth Croswell; brother, Jerry Croswell; sister, Beatrice Rhodes, and husband, Philip L. Mabry III.

In the hearts of those who loved her, Linda’s spirit will live on, a beacon of love, compassion, and cherished memories that will live on for generations to come. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will forever be a guiding light, reminding us to embrace each moment with the same grace and love that she bestowed upon us all. The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m. The inurnment will be private.
