LINDA FELTS MABE

Linda Felts Mabe of Gloucester (formerly of Galax, Va.), left this earth on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Linda was born in Knoxville, Tenn., to James Keith and Ann Marie (Jackson) Felts on March 12, 1955. The family eventually found Newport News as their home where she was raised and graduated from Denbigh High School.

Linda, lovingly known as “Nana,” joins her parents in heaven, and leaves her legacy in each surviving member of her immediate family and very close friends to include children, Bonnie Hogge (Damon), Barrett Bass (Regina), Kimberly Ray (Josh), Kelly Mabe; grandchildren, Jacob Hogge (Annie), Jessica Hogge (Roman), Caroline Bass, Jackson Ray, and Raven Vantuyl; special bonus grandchildren, Maggie Martin, Rylee Hogge, Lalani, Alexander and Julius Roman; a sister, Karen Shumate and her family; best friends, Cathy Hulse, Judy Summers, Bobbie Hogan, Nancy Blair, Susan Devault; all her Jackson and Felts family cousins whom she willingly devoted time to keep their family bond, closest being Kathy Allen and Jerry Jackson.

Her memory will live on by those fortunate enough to know how kind she was and how you knew if no one was in your corner—she was. Everyone called her Nana, no matter if you were her child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or the friend that came home with one of us. She loved her Blue Ridge mountains, its music—particularly gospel bluegrass, and the everlasting connection it has to her mountain family.

Very special thanks to friends who visited and stayed with Nana in the hospital. And sincerely from her kids—words cannot express our appreciation for the nursing staff at Walter Reed Hospital ICU. There were many and all were special, especially Roxanne Powers.

Her faith came straight from her Grandpa Jackson, whose religious influence held our extended family together. Our family knows Jesus and now she is rejoicing in his presence.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda. We will be having a family reunion style lunch immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Woodlawn Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Carolyn Farmer, 128 Forest Oak Road, Woodlawn, Va. 24381 (in the Felts family name) or Little Pine Church of the Brethren Cemetery fund (in the Jackson family name), 619 Pine Brook Road, Ennice, N.C. 28623.
