LINDA BURRELL

Linda Burrell passed away on May 9, 2025 at the age of 60 in Gloucester, Va., with family close by her side. Linda’s decision to rest came after years of living a full, happy and active life despite her battle with breast cancer. Her resilience and refusal to compromise the things she loved—caring for her family, spending time with her grandchildren and dining out with friends— serve as an inspiration to others. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Ida Montaque. In life Linda was a preschool teacher, worked in retail and served as a bank branch manager; however, the role she relished most was grandmother. Linda is survived by her three children and eight grandchildren; her oldest son Benny, his wife Jessica and their children Jordan, Jalen, and Josslyn; her son Demetrick, his partner MaryAnn and their children Kai and Poppy, and her daughter Pamela, her husband Michael and their children Gabriella, Blake and Elliot. Anyone who knew Linda also knew her four brothers, or heard stories about their childhood adventures in Mathews, Va. Linda’s surviving siblings are Bernard Willis (Sylvia), Hubert “Butch” Montaque Jr. (Towanda), Roderick Montaque (Rana) and Hope Montaque. Linda was very close with her nieces and nephews, serving as a confidant and cherishing them as she did her own grandchildren. Her siblings that preceded her in death are Charles ‘Lucky’ Willis and Michael Montague Sr. (Vera). All are encouraged to join the family in honoring Linda’s memory at a Celebration of Life at Freeshade Community Center, 1544 Regent Road, Topping, Va., on May 24, 2025 at 1 p.m. In memory of Linda, contributions may be made to the Kelly Weinberg Foundation at KellyWeinbergFoundation.org.
