Lillian Kemp Hudgins, 92, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. She worked as a full-time cafeteria manager from 1969 to 1999 at Mathews High School and also worked part-time at the school after she retired.

She is survived by her children, Hudson Hudgins, James Curtis Hudgins, Darlene Shaw, Judy Jackson and Frances Evanson; grandchildren, Paul Hudgins, Amber Grinnell, Tammy Hudgins, J.R. Hudgins, Kimberly Hubbard, Willie Jackson, Jason Jackson, Kasey Hudgins and Zachary Prillaman; nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from noon to 2 p.m. at Salem Methodist Church, followed by a funeral service at 2 o’clock. Interment followed at Milford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lillian’s memory to Mathews Meals on Wheels, c/o Nelda Gibbs, P.O. Box 369, Mathews, Va. 23109.
