Li’l Ole Opry to sing ‘Songs from the Road’

Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will offer a new show, “Songs from the Road,” at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

This show has been requested by many who love songs about cars, trucks, the highway and getting out on the open road, said a press release. The Opry band and singers will perform such classics as “Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)” by Alabama, the Bruce Springsteen song “Pink Cadillac” and “Rockin’ Down the Highway” by The Doobie Brothers.

Featured singers will be William Earl Sadler, Richard Smith, David Shuber, Sam Hogge, Lynda Smith, Jeff Long, Mike Gregg, Tracy Hill, Ralph Motley, Susan Ripley, LeighAnn Abbott and Adam Greve.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased in advance at the Mathews Visitor Center in Mathews and at Marketplace Antiques in Gloucester. They will also be available at the door starting at 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.donkstheater.com.
