Lighting the way

The Danny Joyce House on Crany Creek Drive in Gloucester has attracted people filled with the Christmas spirit to see the amazing lights and holiday displays, and those people, in turn, have generously given food items and money for the area’s churches and food banks. Joyce said that he’s received well over eight tons of food items as of Christmas Eve, and expects to reach nine tons by New Year’s Day. "That’s pretty amazing, considering the shape the economy’s in," he said. The donated food has been going to five separate church pantries, as well as the Foodbank of the Peninsula and the Bread for Life Community Food Pantry. Joyce, who’s been doing this for 12-14 years, took a break last year after having back surgery and with his daughter-in-law expecting a baby.
