Light retires from Chesapeake

Chesapeake Bank and Chesapeake Wealth Management recently announced the retirement of Jean Light. The senior vice president and Senior Wealth Management Advisor for Chesapeake Wealth Management, Light will be retiring at the end of the month.

“Jean has been the constant in the growth of our wealth management and trust business in the Northern Neck. Her almost 43 years with Chesapeake Wealth Management have spanned from a nascent Trust Department to the full-featured wealth management entity we are today. We would not be where we are today had it not been for Jean,” said Jeff Szyperski, Chairman, CEO and President of Chesapeake Financial Shares.

Light started with CWM in November of 1981 in the Trust Department of Chesapeake Bank. As the industry evolved, Chesapeake Trust Company was formed, of which she is a past president.

Light has also served her community as a past president of the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council, past Chairman of the Board of Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, and past board member and past commodore of Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club. She served on the boards of Partners for Lancaster County Schools Foundation and the Northern Neck Land Conservancy. She is a founder of the Richmond County Museum.

In preparation for picking up some of Light’s duties, CWM brought on Kemp H. Gaskill, CFP, CTFA, ATFA VP Wealth Advisor and Trust Officer, as well as Missy Mullins, VP Trust Officer, in 2023 to add to its Northern Neck team.
