Library board begins work to plan for new Point location

The Gloucester Library Board has a lot of work to do in the next few months in preparation for the new library branch being opened at York River Crossing shopping center at Hayes, library director Diane Rebertus said Monday.

Rebertus plans to brief the board about the move during a meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at the main library in Main Street Center, and she expects the library board to begin detailed planning for the move at its April meeting.

"This is just a wonderful location," Rebertus said of the space at the shopping center that once housed a medical clinic. The new branch will be conveniently located to many stores including a supermarket, and Rebertus expects that use of the branch should expand in the new and larger location.

The county will lose its lease on its current small branch at Gloucester Point in August.
