LEWIS LIONEL HOGGE

Lewis Lionel Hogge, 79, of Wicomico, left his earthly home and entered into his Heavenly home July 12, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Lionel was a “Wicomico Boy” born to Henry and Ruth Hogge, August 28, 1936, where he lived his entire life. He retired from Fort Eustis and was owner of Lewis Lionel Hogge Plumbing and Heating. Lionel was an active and dedicated member of Severn Church.

He valued honesty, hard work and putting others first, especially his family. Lionel loved to share the gospel in his music ministry, playing the guitar and singing about his love of Christ. Above all, Lionel cherished his family. He made quality family time the number one priority in his life and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He listened to his children and offered good counsel, but never insisted his way was best. His family felt that they were the most important people in his life because he made each of them feel that way. Lionel was humorous, witty and brought a smile to his many friends’ faces by always knowing how to lighten the mood with his laughter. He treated everyone with respect, generosity, kindness and the values he taught and embraced will live on in his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruth Hogge; a brother, E. Claiborne Hogge, and daughter-in-law, Joyce Hogge.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bessie Williams Hogge; his devoted children, Rhonda Hogge (Ronnie), Keith Hogge, Dana Hogge (Angie) and Jamey Hogge (Sherrie); grandchildren, Timothy, Daniel and Rebecca; five great-grandchildren and extended family; sisters, Debra Spencer (Willie) and Janet Johnson (Larry); sister-in-law, Priscilla Hogge; nieces, nephews and many other family and wonderful friends.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill West and the Rev. Arthur Wolz Jr. was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Severn Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service on Saturday from 10-11 at the church.

In memory of Lionel, the family desires contributions to Severn Church, 9066 Robins Neck Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
