Letter: Yankee Carpetbagger

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

One of the definitions of a “Carpetbagger” is, “A political candidate who seeks election in an area where they have no local connections.” Ed Gillespie is a politician, Washington, D.C. lobbyist, born, raised and schooled in the North, never held elected office, never served in the military, and he is currently running for Governor of Virginia.

Why would any true Virginian consider voting for Gillespie to be the next Governor of Virginia when the man has no connections to Virginia and knows nothing of Virginia and her people? Gillespie is the exact definition of a “Carpetbagger,” a “Yankee Carpetbagger!”
