Letter: Wittman’s silence

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

It has been over a week since the FBI lawfully raided the Mar-a-Lago resort. We have heard not a single word from Rep. Rob Wittman. Rep. Wittman is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Vice Ranking Member House Armed Services Committee, and Ranking Member Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee.

He knows the vital procedures that protect our nation’s secrets, and he knows that the former president violated those procedures with sincere and absolute disdain on a regular basis.

Years ago, I was a nuclear electrician at a Naval shipyard; we had classification protocol drilled into our heads. There were procedures for every piece of classified information. Deviation from procedures meant firing, five years in jail and $250,000 fine.

I am very interested to see if Rep. Wittman will follow the procedures he has been trained in, or if he will defend the egregious mishandling of Classified/Top Secret/SCI documentation.
