Letter: Wittman is always ‘district first’

I read in the monthly periodical of the Masters, Mates and Pilots Union that our congressman was honored by the International Propeller Club of the United States for his steadfast support of the maritime industry, the American Merchant Marine and the U.S. Flagged Fleet. The MM&P congratulated Congressman Rob Wittman on being so honored. In a day of incredible polarization, to see management and labor both praising the same politician, especially a Republican, is remarkable.

Rob’s support of an industry so vital to the 1st District is indicative of the way Rob works, district first. All of us know people working in the larger maritime industry. The men and women who work for Vane Brothers, McAllister or Dan Towing, those who work in the shipyards and the marine terminals; those who sail for Omega Protein, and the watermen who harvest the seafood from the Bay, he represents all of them.
