Letter: Wittman initially opposed Burn Pit Act

It was a great day when President Biden signed into law the Honoring our PACT Act, also known as the Burn Pit Act. The VA will now have to presume certain illnesses are a result of the veterans’ exposure to toxic substances during their service to our country and veterans will no longer have an uphill battle of proving their illnesses were service related. This was a special victory for veterans exposed to burn pits in Iraq after 9/11 because their illnesses had never been recognized by the VA.

Were you angry this summer when you learned that Republican Senators were blocking the passage of this bill? The VFW, American Legion, DAV and other veterans’ groups, along with millions of caring citizens, called out these senators for their failure to support this bill.
