It was suggested by a 12-year-old at the last Mathews BOS meeting that Supervisor Reverend Dr. Melissa Mason recuse herself from voting if the matter of giving county property to special interest groups comes up for a vote. Why? His reason is because she is a member of the NAACP.
Robert Dobson, a member of the Mathews School Board, agreed with him in an opinion letter on Sept. 8. The NAACP has absolutely nothing to do with the land in question, so why on earth should Supervisor Melissa Mason, being a member of this organization, be kept from doing her job as a Mathews Board Supervisor?
