Letter: Who is setting our priorities?

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Isn’t it strange that the $85 billion in sequestration, requested by the White House, has become such a divisive issue? Our annual budget, a continuation of the 2010 budget (since the Democrat-controlled Senate can’t seem to pass one) is $3.6 trillion. A trillion is 1,000 billion. Eighty-five billion in such an astronomical budget is a mere flash in the pan.

Now we’re told, er led to believe, there is no money to complete a carrier overhaul on the USS Roosevelt, and we can’t begin the work on a Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) on the USS Lincoln. The approximate cost of this needed work is $3 billion. Pakistan is set to get $2.4 billion. The poor are getting free cell phones at $2.2 billion. The Muslim Brotherhood is going to get 20 F-16s and 200 M1A1 Abrams tanks. Who is setting our priorities? The White House!
