Letter: What were you thinking?

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in July of 2019, Gloucester County had a population of around 37,300 people. Of these, 35,480 were over the age of 5. I believe that everyone over the age of 5 is acutely aware of the health dangers of COVID-19.

On Monday, June 29, the county had a free COVID-19 testing program at Gloucester High School. Now, many of our residents work across the river and could not participate. Many people work in the county and probably also were unable to participate. But many other people could have been tested and chose not to.

The coronavirus has something in common with a sexually transmitted disease: to become infected, one must be exposed to a carrier. Over the past few months, I have watched the rate of infections in our county; and while low, it has been progressing at about one every day or two.
