Letter: What was he thinking?

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I can’t believe Rob Wittman voted against the bill to provide financial assistance to the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma (HR 601). First, as Americans, we help one another. And, as residents of the First Congressional District, we know what it feels like to be victims of a hurricane, even a small one like Isabel.

Perhaps Chris Christie got it right when he said, “Your turn will come.” I am appalled that our representative could be so un-American, so hard-hearted as to deny help to those in need.

Yes, Congressman Wittman, our turn will come, maybe soon with Jose, Maria or Lee. Then it will be our turn to ask for help and be denied. 

Shame on you, Rob Wittman!
