Letter: What direction will the new board take?

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

“The time has come,” the Walrus said,

“To talk of many things:

Of shoes, and ships, and sealing-wax

Of cabbages and kings

And why the sea is boiling hot

And whether pigs have wings.”

Once again, the time has come to speak of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors.

Last month was a time to speak to the past and to laud the accomplishments of the supervisors over the last several years. As the board prepares to embark on a new year, it is time to refer briefly to the past, to give perspective to the anticipated changes the new board member has proposed in his campaign and what the new leadership may offer. 

The past several years have been a time of exceptional stewardship and management of county resources as the county and the board grappled with collapsed economy, lost jobs and lowered real incomes which persisted for a full decade.
