Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I would like to thank all who contributed to our state championship this past year in field hockey. First, to the Gloucester business community: Your signs and contributions were so inspiring to us on our drive to the state title; it was just amazing to drive up and down Route 17 and see the support. To the citizens of Gloucester: You were so kind and supportive with your words of encouragement and coming together to offer your support.

To the teachers and students of GHS and my fellow teachers at Bethel: Your support was so inspiring, energizing and welcomed. To the school administration, board of supervisors and school board: Thanks for your continued support through our entire season. To Troy Andersen, Dr. Clemons and Mr. Collins: Thanks for your attendance at our games; it was welcomed.

To Mrs. Kersmarki: Thanks for believing in me and allowing me to achieve my dream. To Kristy Hunter, our AD: Thanks for always being there to help us in any way possible. To my varsity parents, who gave so much in terms of support, time, money and care: You are the best! To my assistant coaches—Anne Winter and Joe Dougherty—who made such a difference and were such contributors to our success, I thank you! To my wonderful wife Cindy, and my children, who don’t get much of my attention during the season, but still being there always: 

I love you!

Finally, to my team, including manager Carter Miller: You were the best! You came together as one, bought into our philosophy, gave your blood, sweat and tears and accomplished your dream. That is something that can never be taken from you and you earned everything you got. You inspired so many! 

I love you guys!

It really does take a community to be successful. Again, I thank any and all who helped make our State Championship a reality. We came together as one!
