Letter: We are better together

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

I way too often hear how angry and divided we all are at our government, police, media and each other. Well, I’m not angry at anyone. Yes, we can all do better.

It does break my heart when I see a person being held down by two trained police and shot to death at close range. It also breaks my heart to see our police being targeted while allowing legal protesting. We are fortunate to have such a helpful and inspiring police force here in Mathews County.

We lived overseas nine out of our 20-year military life. We were always—always—thrilled to get back to the good ole U.S.A. We felt then, and I feel now, that this is a great country. It sure gave us our chance and we did work hard and now can give back, in a small way.

Please, please get ready to vote. Yes, vote and be kind to each other. No bullying, no name calling. Go high, as we were asked to do by this paper and our First Lady. We are better together.
