Letter: Walking to find a cure

On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck Walk to End Alzheimer’s was held at Bethpage Camp Resort in Urbanna. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

The day of the walk, we were so grateful for all hands on deck. Our dedicated volunteers came out in the dark and the rain to get everything ready for the walkers. Everyone had been working hard for months, raising funds and awareness as we entered the last week prior to the walk, so did Hurricane Matthew. Because of the weather, we were nervous about the turnout, which is usually about 400 walkers, and also concerned that we may not get as close to our monetary goal as we had hoped.
