Editor, Gazette-Journal: Gloucester and Mathews counties are attractive places to live, work and visit safely. There are no perceived homeless encampments; no masses of illegal immigrants on public support; sheriffs enforce laws and incarcerate criminals. There are good schools with teachers that provide subjects needed, without outlandish nonsense as seen in Fairfax County. The citizens truly have a voice in their governance as evidenced in the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal. The Boards of Supervisors and councils abide by publicly viewed budgets. Downtown Gloucester and Mathews attract and keep visitors. Officials seek public consent spending federal dollars. Responsible churches and volunteer organizations help citizens in need. U.S. Congressman Rob Wittman has done an outstanding job supporting both Gloucester and Mathews counties and their citizens throughout his tenure.
